Some Good Golf Drivers?

Max C asked:

Basically
i have a medium speed swing, a good set of irons and have recently become a lot more consistent with my direction
which generally helps as i used to hit it everywhere but straight
now iv sorted out my iron problem and a ridiculous deal meaning that if you buy a set you get a free years membership, i need a driver
i can drive around 260-270 yards striaght with a Slazenger something or other £19 club from sports world, and i know this is quite an ambiguous question but any ideas on what i should try out?
anyone in the same situation as me- decent but not great relatively new to the game?
this is an xmas present so no worries about money
cheers.

go to a golf specialty store or a local proshop and get fitted, they will be able to tell you what club will work best for you.

If you have a golf shop nearby that will allow you to hit clubs in a simulator, I would suggest that. I have been playing seriously for about 4-5 years now. I have purchased two drivers after extensive testing. I am not an impulse buyer. The deciding factor both times was comfort. If you don’t like the look and feel of a driver, you will never be confident with it. I love Taylor Made’s myself, but have liked the Callaway FT-5 and the Hogan driver as well. Good luck with your purchase and I hope for many fairways for you.

I’m rockin the Titleist 905 R, with the gold luanch shaft. I hit the ball over 300 almost every time. Of course i’m a big man, so i’m not saying your going to hit it that far.

TaylorMade Burner TP is solid. Ping G10 is good too, but I think the club is ugly.

I’d say go hit some at the local store. There a bunch of new drivers coming out, and some of them could fit your game perfectly.

Go out and buy a Cobra driver. I have always had one and i love it. i had tried other drivers like the titles and nike sumo, but i havent hit any of them nearly as well as i hit the cobra.

well if it for you then go and get fit. now since you sound new, I would say to go with the Nike sq sumo 2 (last years model unless you want to pay more for less noise.) if you don’t care about it being square or its workability its perfect.
(workability is how easy you can hit a draw or fade but most amateurs don’t care they just want it to go straight.)

I think you should go out and buy a Cobra driver. I have always had one and i love it. Such as:
    Nike Sasquatch Sumo

I have a medium swing speed of right at 100 mph. I tested the Big Bertha, the Burner, a couple of the Clevelands. I went with the Nike Sumo because I hit it longer and straighter that any of the other drivers.

Now if it could just learn to swing and hit the Sumo like Tiger.
