How much per month do you pay for your gym membership?

Melissa K asked:

I’m getting ready to move into a more affordable apartment and thinking that perhaps I might be able to afford a gym membership with some of the savings.

I pay $30 for the entire family at the YMCA, but that is with a military discount because my spouse was deployed. Normally I think it’s like $40 or $45 a month.

I jsut purchased a piece of equipment for around $700. I can use it as much as I want and I dont have to pay anything. I think that it is bette than paying for a gym membership evermonth. After a wile it will start adding up.

I work at a gym and it cost like 50 dollars a month, and we’re the cheapest in town. It changes with where you live, so you need to go to different gyms and compare prices. If your a student you can usually get discounts, and also certain company discounts may apply. You may even save depending on if you live in a development that gets discounts are that gym.

my husband and I joined the YMCA and we pay 84.50 per month with unlimited access to all YMCAs in the area where we live. The Y offers all sorts of subsidized programs too where they base your fees on what you can afford. It is worth looking into.

My membership fee is only $20 a month. So, there’s no excuse for me to not exercise (can;t use the excuse that I cannot afford it or anything)

When I joined a gym I paid $42 a month and was locked into a one year contract. The gym was great, but as usual life happens and I stopped going after 5 or 6 months. So it was a waste of some serious cash. Never sign a contract, and if you do make it short term.
