How can I CANCEL my Equinox Gym (NYC) membership? What is the fastest way, and least annoying?

I have been a member over one year. Its not worth the $ to me anymore. Many people have horror stories about cancelling gym memberships, terribly one-sided contracts, and all the crap they try to pull to make it difficult to terminate the membership.

I had a horror story with Bally’s myself. The easiest thing to do is to call the bank and change your auto-debit settings. They may give you a new account number but so what? The bottom line is that the gym will no longer be able to draft your account……easier to change other drafts to the new account (if you have any) than keep paying for an unused service

you will probably have to notify them that you want to cancel your membership and if you are in a contract, you’ll have to pay an early termination fee. the sooner you contact them, the better. I have worked for gyms and been a member of almost every large fitness club in the U.S. Call ASAP to avoid a hassle!
